Welcome to TuiNa Acupressure Massage

Tui-na Massage is a form of Chinese manipulative therapy often used in conjunction with acupuncture, fire cupping, and Chinese herbalism. BlueWhite Health provides this therapy at our clinic in Kamloops. As a therapy that reduces pain, alleviates stress, and helps with other disorders in both adults and children, we are happy to offer it as one of our services.

Here is some information about what Tui-Na Massage is, what to expect at your visit, and what it can help you with!

When you come to your appointment, the practitioner may brush, knead, glide, roll, press, and rub the areas between each of the joints and the muscles. techniques may be gentle or quite firm. The practitioner can also use range of motion, traction, with the stimulation of acupressure points.

Unlike classic massage therapy, which is used for relaxation, Tui-na massage is a therapeutic treatment. This technique is very beneficial in reducing the pain of neck, shoulders, hips, back, arms, highs, legs and ankle disorders. It is a very effective therapy for arthritis, pain, sciatica and muscle spasms. Other benefits of this massage therapy include alleviation of the stress related disorders like insomnia, constipation, headaches and other disorders related to digestive, respiratory and reproductive systems.In modern China, many hospitals include Tui-na as a standard aspect of treatment, with specialization for infants, adults, orthopaedics, traumatology, cosmetology, rehabilitation, and sports injury.

It usually focuses on a specific problems, such as:

  • • Chronic pain
  • • Limited mobility
  • • Recovery from injuries (e.g. whiplash, falls, sports injury)
  • • Repetitive strain injury, such as carpal tunnel syndrome
  • • Postural problems
  • • Osteoarthritis pain
  • • Fibromyalgia
  • • Muscle tension or spasm

We also provide Pediatric Tui-na massage. This technique is very beneficial for children with Autism. It helps Autistic children with their emotion self-regulation, and better communication, and/or more affection, and speech improvement and so on. 

What to wear during the visit 

   Same as Acupuncture: wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing

What to do or not to do before the visit 
   Avoid starting treatment on an empty stomach or immediately after a big meal
   Drink water before and after the visit to eliminate the toxins from your body
